Austin has 703 public charging stations as of mid-2026, and the network mix tells you who built it — ChargePoint accounts for 573 of them, the workplace-and-retail Level 2 charger of choice for the tech employers that have driven Austin’s growth for a decade. DC fast charging is thinner but real, anchored by thirteen Tesla Supercharger sites scattered across the metro.
Downtown and South Congress
Downtown Austin’s charging is mostly garage-based Level 2 — convenient if you’re parking for hours anyway, slow if you need a real top-off. South Congress has scattered ChargePoint stations at retail lots, useful for the same reason: you’re already stopping for a while.
The Domain and North Austin
The Domain’s retail and office density has produced the city’s thickest charging cluster outside downtown. The North Mopac Expressway Tesla Supercharger, with 24 stalls, is the largest fast-charging site in the metro and the practical anchor for anyone heading north on Mopac or I-35.
East Austin and Mueller
East Austin’s charging has grown alongside its restaurant and residential boom, mostly Level 2 at newer mixed-use developments. Mueller, the redeveloped airport site, has charging built into its newer apartment and retail construction — a preview of what infill EV infrastructure looks like when it’s planned in from the start rather than retrofitted.
Getting to the Airport
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has Level 2 in the parking garages. For DC fast charging near the airport, the East Stassney Lane and East Ben White Boulevard Tesla Superchargers (16 stalls each) are the closest practical options, a few minutes northwest.
Planning Notes
Austin’s charging works well for residents with home or workplace charging and ChargePoint access. For DC fast charging on a road trip in or out of the city, the Tesla Supercharger network is currently more reliable and more evenly distributed than the non-Tesla DC fast options — plan around it if your vehicle supports NACS, or check Electrify America and EVgo coverage directly if it doesn’t.
