The pattern to notice: the same 15 minutes buys three times more range when you arrive low. Charging curves front-load power below ~50% state of charge — which is why the road-trip move is arriving at 10–20% and leaving at 60–70%, not topping up from 70%.
What can change the bill
Off-peak discounts at some sites cut rates 10–25% overnight. A handful of urban sites bill charging past 80% at a premium congestion rate. And if you stay plugged in after charging finishes at a busy site, idle fees run $1.00/minute — the one way 15 minutes of parking costs more than 15 minutes of charging.
